Susan Grady, MA, SPHR has worked in human resource management at the middle and senior executive levels for approximately 25 years.  She has worked in academic health care at the University of Pittsburgh in cancer research and in community health care at DuBois Regional Medical Center (DRMC) where she served as the Vice President of Human Resources with the added responsibilities of clinical and service departments.  During her tenure at DRMC, the hospital was listed as a Best Place to Work in PA for six consecutive years and as a Psychologically Healthy Workplace, as recognized  by the American Psychological Association.

Ms. Grady is certified as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and holds a master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations.  She is completing the dissertation requirements of the PhD program in Organization and Management, with a concentration in Human Resources in the School of Business and Technology at Capella University.  Her research areas of interests include employee satisfaction, business growth through employee contributions, and quality and financial performance in  health care management.

She speaks locally, regionally and nationally on employer and employee issues, including business development, HR competencies, and civility and diversity in today’s business environment.  Recent speaking engagements include the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA) of the American Hospital Association (AHA), HR Management Association of North Central PA, HealthCare Source, and the Healthcare Human Resources Association of Central Pennsylvania.

She currently serves on the board of the DuBois Educational Foundation for Penn State University, where she chairs the Academic Excellence Committee.  She serves as a mentor to HR Professionals through the SHRM Mentoring Program, a formal program that allows less experienced HR professionals to take advantage of the knowledge and expertise of senior HR professionals in order to develop and expand their expertise.

Ms. Grady has served on numerous community boards including the Boy Scouts of America; Dickinson Mental Health Center, Inc; Clearfield County League on Social Services, Inc.; and Partners for Prevention, Penn State DuBois; Community Planning for Early Care in Education; and Goodwill Industries.  Professional board and committee memberships include Human Resources Committee of the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania; Advisory Committee for the Greater DuBois Leadership Institute; VHA Human Resources Council; and SHRM State Director.  She is a founding member of the PA Governor’s School for Healthcare Advisory Board and the Human Resources Management Association of North Central PA.  The Pennsylvania Business Central Journal named Ms. Grady to the Top 100 Business Persons in PA.
